Nothing here was formulated in isolation. Calm and Restore were designed as a pair. Renew was built to go under Nourish. Protect was built for the mornings that Calm and Restore do not cover.
People were already buying them that way. It stopped making sense to charge full price for it.

Why the barrier routine is split in two
Think of the outer layer of your skin as a brick wall. The cells are the bricks. The fats between them are the mortar. When the mortar runs thin, water escapes faster than it arrives — and skin that is losing water is skin that reacts. Tightness first. Then roughness. Then redness, and itch.
In daylight, that wall is holding a line against hard water, wind, central heating, a sleeve, a glove, a shift on a ward. It needs something light enough to sit under clothes and make-up but present enough to slow water leaving the skin. That is Calm.
Overnight the work changes. Water loss through the skin rises in the small hours and skin temperature goes up with it, which is why itch is so often worse in bed. That is when a thicker, slower layer earns its place. That is Restore.
One balm can do one of those jobs well. Two can do both.
Why bakuchiol appears twice in the face routine
Renew and Nourish both contain it — high in the serum, lower in the balm. That was deliberate. Sensitive and mature skin does better with a steady, tolerable level of an active than with a single aggressive dose it then has to recover from. Layering the two gives you consistency without the peeling, stinging fortnight that puts most sensitive-skinned people off retinoids for good.

Questions
Which set should I buy first?
If your problem is dryness, itch or reactivity, start with the barrier balms — the Starter Duo if you are new, the Barrier Duo if you already know. If your problem is texture, dullness or mature skin, start with the Glow Duo.
How long does 10ml actually last?
The balms are waterless, so they are far more concentrated than a cream and you need noticeably less than you are used to. On a face, roughly two to three weeks of daily use. On hands, or one stubborn patch, longer.
Are the minis the same formula as the full sizes?
Identical. Nothing diluted, nothing substituted. Same batch, smaller jar.
Can I use the barrier balms and the face routine together?
Yes. Purify, then Renew, then Protect in the morning; Purify, then Renew, then Nourish at night. Calm and Restore are for the body and for facial skin that is actively uncomfortable — use them in place of Nourish on the days your skin needs comfort more than it needs texture.
How do I patch test properly?
Sensitised skin can take days to react, not minutes. Apply a small amount to the inner forearm and leave it 24 hours. Repeat on the same spot for three days. If nothing happens, move to a small area of the face or the affected patch for another three days, then use it properly. Test different products on different areas so you know which is which if something does happen.
How long before I see anything?
Comfort from the barrier balms is usually immediate. Texture and tone from the face routine take eight to twelve weeks — skin cells turn over roughly every four weeks, and texture takes longer than that. Anyone promising you a fortnight is selling you the first four weeks of someone else's results.
Are they suitable for eczema or psoriasis?
They are suitable for people who may be prone to eczema, psoriasis or dermatitis. They are cosmetic products, not medicines, and not a substitute for medical care. If your skin is broken, weeping, bleeding or looks infected, please see your GP.
Is Protect a sunscreen?
No. It contains non-nano zinc oxide, but it has no tested SPF and no SPF rating, and it must not be relied on for sun protection. Use a rated SPF over the top.
